Wednesday at the Senior Center, 60 North Bow St., Milford.

Blackstone Valley Vietnam Veterans will meet at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday at 875 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 will meet at 8 p.m.

Friday, 175 Main St., Spencer.

Webster-Dudley American Legion Post 184 will hold a ham and bean supper from 5 to 7 p.m.

Saturday at the American Legion Hall, Houghton Street, Webster.

This event is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 184.

All proceeds go toward a scholarship fund.

Quinsigamond Post 318 will meet at 10 a.m.

Sunday, May 6, at 180 Greenwood St., Worcester.

Massachusetts Veterans Inc.

is hosting its 10th annual Best Ball Classic Charity Golf Tournament, starting with registration at 8 a.m.

and a shotgun start at 9 Wednesday, May 9, at Heritage Country Club, Charlton.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go toward the Feed-A-Vet Food Pantry.

The entry fee is $100 per golfer, which includes greens fees, golf cart and steak dinner.

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, May 2.

Sponsors are also needed.

A $150 sponsorship includes a sign at a hole on a green.

Program book ads are also available at $50 for a full-page add and $30 for a half-page.

Donated raffle items will also receive recognition in the program book.

I just figured I’ll pay for it myself.”Mirabile’s lack of health insurance coverage for this increasingly popular weight loss surgery — also known as bariatric surgery — is not unusual.

While Medicare broadened its coverage last year to include more types of procedures, some private health insurers won’t pay for bariatric surgery or cover it under very limited circumstances.The surgery is expensive.

Locally the cost can range from about $14,000 to $23,000, depending on the type of procedure, said surgeon C.
