Lifetime Achievement: Jamaican-born Ouida Marina Wright was superintendent of curriculum for the Toronto District School Board and assistant deputy minister of Ontario's education ministry. Community Service: Montreal-born retired engineer Richard Leslie Michael once hitched a secret train ride to Michigan with a conductor's help so he could attend Michigan State University. He later served on the Immigration and Refugee Board. He helped get Herb Carnegie nominated to the Hockey Hall of Fame. President's Award: Calgary's Mary Tidlund, who ran a publicly traded oil exploration and service company, was a finalist in the Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards. Her charitable foundation supports medical, dental and educational programs in Canada and overseas. Health Services: Ghana-born Dr. Kwadwo Asante is a pediatrician and medical director of the Asante Centre for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in British Columbia. He won the Governor General's Meritorious Service Medal in 2005.
